Vision:

To give boys and girls of all ages the opportunity to participate in the various programs that Canada's National Summer Sport of lacrosse has to offer.

Mission:

To promote & grow this great game of lacrosse through its dedicated volunteers, coaches and players.

History:

The Toronto Stars Lacrosse Association was created in 2000 in the East End of Toronto (Scarborough). Despite many challenges, a small group of non-lacrosse parents persevered to create a local house league which registered over 230 players in the 1st season. As a result, the STARS were officially accepted by the OLA (Ontario Lacrosse Association) as a member the following year.

The STARS then proceeded to promote a Girls Box Lacrosse program which grew to over 240 players ranging from ages 9 and up. Soon after, other clubs followed suit and the OLA recognized it as an official program.

The OLA then introduced the 1st Girls Provincials Tournament and the STARS Midget team won back to back Provincial Championships. The association was then awarded by the OLA with the Merv MacKenzie Award for Promotion. At this point the STARS had over 650 players participating in its various programs.

The Stars introduced Girls Field Lacrosse to its members 4 years ago. The House League continues to grow each year and will offer two Divisions in 2011. In three short years our Rep program has produced Division Champions and Silver Medalists at the Provincial Level. We have taken trips to New York State and Maryland in order to introduce the girls to the possibilities of pursuing play at the University Level both here in Canada and South of the border. Several Toronto Stars are already playing for the University of Toronto. We have 7 girls currently playing for Team Ontario at the U16 and U14 age divisions.

Our Boys Box REP program has also taken some time to reach its current level, but is growing faster with more competitive teams playing in a very challenging division in Zone 6.

The Boys Field program has recently been introduced to our organization and we are expecting to have a number of competitive teams for the 2011 season. All of this growth has only been achieved by our vision, dedication to our mission and our volunteers’ commitments to grow this great game of Lacrosse.

The STARS have just celebrated our 10th season and look forward to a continued positive image within the Toronto lacrosse community.

CONGRATULATIONS to ALL VOLUNTEERS who have contributed over the many years to providing a positive environment for our local youth....Keep up the great work!
